The Sugarloaf Animal Hospital was established in 1995 by Kate and Mark Simpson. Since then we have grown to be a four vet, 8 support staff Hospital operating 6 days a week at 67 Carrington St, on the corner of Carrington and Withers St. We are very easy to find as we are about 3 minutes from the F3 freeway on the western edge of Newcastle.
Sugarloaf Animal Hospital is a full service companion Animal Hospital, with a special interest in exotic and pocket pets. Up to half our patients are birds, and the less commonly kept companion animals like rabbits and ferrets join cats and dogs in making up the rest of the numbers. We also are proud to have goats, fish and other aquarium life come and visit us as well as some native wildlife.

It is our commitment to be an advocate for quality veterinary care throughout the life of your pet. Our services and facilities are designed to assist in routine preventive care for young, healthy pets; early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages; and complete medical and surgical care as necessary during his or her lifetime.
We understand the special role your pet plays in your family (whatever size they are!) and are dedicated to becoming your partner in your pet's health care. We treat your pet as we would our own.
Please feel free to make yourself at home and read through some of the information answering some of our most commonly asked questions. We also introduce our staff, talk about most interesting cases and more. Leave us some feedback or you could send us a message; we would love to hear from you!
At this site, you will find information about our practice philosophy, our services, helpful forms to assist you and an extensive Pet Medical Library for you to search for additional pet health care information.
