Sugarloaf Animal Hospital

Kate Simpson, Hospital Manager

Kate divides her time between working in the Hospital and looking after her lovely boys, Renwick and Wilson. She opened the Hospital with Dr Mark in 1995 and since then has been instrumental in building the Hospital up to what it is today.

She is a very skilled nurse and together with Mark, they make a very knowledgeable team.

Lisa Forbes-Harper, Veterinary Nurse
Married with two Teenage Children.
Graduated with Distinctions from Kurri Kurri TAFE Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing in 2004.
I previously worked in an equine veterinary Hospital and joined Sugarloaf Animal Hospital in March 2008. I have found the change over to smaller animals and exotics very challenging, but also rewarding. I have many pets, 4 cats (2 of which I hand raised), no horses (at present), 2 dogs, 1 fat mouse, and many different breeds of orphaned birds. I have experienced life on the land, gained rural skills and qualified as a Jillaroo. I love my job!!

Angela Sell, Veterinary Nurse

Angela has been a veterinary nurse since 2003. She has gained a lot of experience with cats and dogs in previous Hospitals but made the move to Sugarloaf Animal Hospital in May 2008 to expand her nursing skills with birds and exotics.

As much as she loves her new scaly and feathered friends she has a special interest in raising orphaned kittens and adores her beautiful burmilla seen with her in her photo- Mia Rose.

Jackie Blanch, Nurse Assistant

Jackie is a much loved member of our team and has won internal awards at Christmas time in the past for being one of our strongest support staff. She is our Nurse Support person and we rely on her daily! Jackie's main priority is the welfare of Hospital inpatients and to make sure they are comfortable and all their needs are met, which she does very well.
Jackie has a galah called Billy, a Maltese called Cleo, and a gorgeous little boy chihuahua called Tinkerbell. Tinks range of tricks include waving, "Bang" ( a very dramatic roll over and die) kissing and pushing a little shopping trolley.

Kylie Hawkins, Veterinary Nurse
Just like every other devoted Veterinary Nurse out there. I love my job! I have been a Veterinary Nurse for 10 years now with a very brief extension into the world of IT. My passion lies with the wonderful range of fury and feathered creatures we care for here at Sugarloaf Animal Hospital. I came to Sugarloaf Animal Hospital in October 2008, and have quickly filled a great role  veterinary nursing and teaching Puppy Preschool.

Desiree Marshall
Veterinary Receptionist
Hi! I'm Desiree, receptionist and newest member of the fabulous Sugarloaf Animal Hospital team. I might be new but I have along track record in animal care, beginning in my middle 20's as a foster-carer for the RSPCA. An interest became a passion and at 30, i graduated as a qualified Veterinary Nurse from Box Hill TAFE, Melbourne
Several years spent working in both small and large vet hospitals in Melbourne have given me both practical pet care experience and a deep appreciation of all-important animal-human bond. Our pets are people too!
My interests include the two Ws - wildlife rehabilitation and writing. As a writer, i love to hear people's animal stories. I look forward to hearing yours. Come in and say hello.
