Microchipping
Your pets safety and welfare is our number one concern. Microchipping your pets is a permanent and easy way to ensure they make it back home safe and sound should they get lost, stray or stolen.
Microchipping became law under the NSW Government Companion Animals Act for dogs and cats in 1998. This law also contains information on Lifetime Registration for cats and dogs with the local government for your area.
Although not law, rabbits, birds and other exotic pets are quickly becoming a regular household family pet, so they to can be microchipped and protected.
The procedure
The microchip placement site is clipped and cleaned. A small amount of local anaesthesia is given at the site to numb the area so the needle(little bigger than normal) isn't felt when given. The microchip sits just under the skin, it cannot be felt and causes no irritation to the animal.
Please call our hospital if your pet needs his/her permanent identification, microchip.
